And so much more! What a busy year 1966 was. I was in my early 20s, a mini-skirt wearing war protestor, singing along to "Eleanor Rigby."
It seens very very long ago. The literature has held, I’m glad to see, as I read everything popular that year, saw all the movies, and in general cared about keeping up with things then. (Not so much now) Certainly our three big concerns were the war, Civil Rights, and women’s lib. It was exciting to engage in ‘consciousness raising’ sessions, to broaden our idea of what it meant to be a woman. We explored our inner racism, too, trying to understand, to be better people, to confront and rid ourselves of the biases with which we had been raised. And most of us were in despair over the war. Just like now. Do we EVER learn? As a nation, i mean.
The Warren Court was great. Most of our most important civil liberties seem to derive from that period.
HI Barb.. Glad you had a nice trip to LA. Their house looks wonderful and COngrats to Dave for the MBA.. I bet you were sad to leave them and come home. I hear it is very hot out there now. over 100 degrees.. I will take our lovely 70\’s anytime. I wonder if Aurelia thinks you live in the airport since they left you there? It is amazing how children\’s minds work. Doesn\’t help that they cannot see you get on the plane anymore. Used to be you could stand at the window and watch you board and wave from inside it. Nowdays they won\’t let you down the hall even in some places. Very confusing to children I am sure. Yes.. we had heavy rains and your roses are beautiful. I lost my peony bush this year other people\’s did just fine. I still can figure it out yet. I planted some morning glories and the rain was so bad it washed away the seeds. I had to replant them again. I see now they are sprouting again. Time to weed out the weak ones I guess. In 66 I was in 9th grade. Our senior high went from 9-12 and boy was it a shock to my system going to the BIG school. We were the first class to go all the way through it though, as it was a brand new school.
All those things and still no cure for cancer.. after all these years.. just amazing. Hope you have a wonderful weekend. take care.. : )
