Next week

Next week will be super busy, mostly because I’m leaving for London on Thursday!!!!  Thank you, thank you, Christina!    What an amazing birthday gift.

Don is in full ‘getting ready for Dubuque’ mode.  This involves a lot of shopping for kennel supplies.  I usually accompany him,  just because we like being together.   It will be very strange being apart half of the summer.   And I’m just guessing about the half part;   kind of depends upon how easy I find the drive to Dubuque and back.

Don’s getting his Michigan driver’s license tomorrow.   This is related to car insurance more than anything, but his Florida one will expire soon, so he needs to do something anyway.   He’s slowly becoming a real Wolverine.   (What a terrible animal for a state to be named after.)

I’ve been very busy in the garden for two days.  The temps have been in the high 50s; low 60s, and that’s perfect gardening weather.   I figure the more I get done now, the longer I can stay in Dubuque.   Sort of.   There are quite a few things I need to be here for, so that driving back and forth really can’t be avoided.   Thirty years ago I wouldn’t have blinked an eye at that, but i’ve sort of lost my ‘sea legs’ or whatever it is we do road trips with.

Which brings me to this whole getting older stuff;  my 70th is just one week away.  Bleah.  I feel the same as I always have; well, maybe not when i wake up in the morning all stiff and sore, but I can still stretch it out and not have to medicate the aches away.    It’s the mirror that really annoys me.   So darned many wrinkles.   So darned many unwanted pounds.   Sigh.

Mostly I’m able to ignore all that…..and this week will be a whirlwind….just the way I like it.
