Here it is, December already. First things first: happy birthdays to my sister Bertie and SIL Dave, who share a December 2 birthday. Following on their heels, daughter Noel celebrates hers on the 6th. Since we will be out of town much of December, the Bashes, Don and I are doing a joint happy birthday/Xmas dinner tomorrow at Clementine’s. Great fish, lovely setting overlooking the St. Joseph River….and they apparently have enough gluten-free offerings to make a meal for everyone.
The weather here is wonderful…40s, 50s, and possibly even 60 early next week. I’ve been walking outdoors, and isn’t that a treat this late in the year! Mostly I’m walking at the mall with Cheryl, sometimes Pat. I’m up to three laps now, 3,000 steps. Yesterday, I actually managed during the course of the day to get 7,000 steps. Still not up to the 10k I like, but not bad.
I’m enjoying having the cleaning service. Well, truly, what’s to miss about vacuuming?? I’m still dusting, windexing, swiffering….all the light stuff, but how wonderful to have someone else clean bathrooms and kitchen and vacuum the entire house. I never got it all done in one day, and I think that’s the best part about hiring the work done: the whole house looks good at the same time.
Today is the annual Morton House Christmas open house. I’m picking Joyce up at 11:00, and after we tour the house, we’ll go someplace nice for lunch. At 87, Joyce has finally slowed up a little, but honestly, this woman is an inspiration: still lives alone, drives everywhere, is the same personality I’ve known for twenty six years. And what a lovely personality that is.
