My wallet is stuffed with cards. Yours, too, I bet. Today I pulled two of them out and called in change of address. These were two easy ones: AAA and AARP.
That successfully done, I took my passport and tax statement to the library to see if that was i.d. enough for a card. It was! I feel whole again with a library card in my wallet. Our local branch is very small, but it’ll still take me a while to read through it. The big branch is downtown Bradenton, an area I have yet to learn. One of these days.
The condo association is hosting a BBQ on Labor Day. I signed up to bring a dessert. Luckily, my mixer bowls have not yet arrived, so I was forced to buy something yummy. There is a GFS a couple of miles away. This is a Michigan-based company that supplies restaurants but is also open for regular shoppers. I picked up some peanut butter brownies. Look fab. I probably won’t try to pass them off as homemade, but they look as if they could be.
New bank account is functioning well: ATM card works; checks have arrived all properly printed; the on-line account management system is easy to use; and the folks at the bank are very friendly. Oh, and it’s only a three minute drive from our home. Still need to transfer my direct deposits to the new account, but no hurry.
Next biggie is the DMV: license, car registration, anything else they want. Need to get insurance, of course. There is a proper order to these things and I’ve been too lazy to figure it out yet.
Last hurdle is finding doctors. We’ve located a highly recommended cardiology practice; need to drive over and check it out, see about getting appointments. I also need a GP; oops, Primary Care Doctor.
A step at a time. We’ll be full Floridians before you know it.
