Thinking while between visit segments

The time we spent with Diana and her family was filled with little delights; you know, the tiny things that are the true quality of life indicators.

Example:   Andie was having her turn in our car, and she, being a talker, was chattering away.  We were half listening until the subject turned to her birthday and the fact that she is five.   Then she said, “Most of my birthdays are November 11.”   Hmmm.  MOST of them.  Love kid-speak!

Example:   Aurelia is now having her turn in our car.  She had been taking small polaroid photos around our home and had invented a card game using the photos for her deck.  One whole section was “Grammy cards!”  Yes….all featuring me.   How exciting.   All of the other people fell into the group she called face cards.  Then there were Wizard of Oz cards, those pictures having been taken of my Polly Pockets Wizard of Oz set (that I have been dragging from house to house for 30 years…just never know when you’re going to need something!)

And that’s how it went…one small delight after another.  Children!  How they fill our souls.
