We stopped for gas on the way home from breakfast today. Don hopped out to fill the tank, and I couldn’t help but notice that when the click rang out and the display indicated $25.70, that Don began making single clicks until the dial read exactly $26.00. I NEVER do that, nor do I know any women who do. But guys? It’s standard operating procedure for them. What woman cares about things like that? Tank’s full; let’s go! So I chuckled silently to myself…and just felt glad to have someone else hop out to fill up my car.
It’s mother’s day today….not much of a holiday for those of us far from our families, although it’s been nice to hear from my three in one way or another.
It’s been very long since I lived with children, so my memories have filtered out all the rough times and I can wax sentimental with a straight face. Overwhelmingly, I did love being a mom, but let’s face it….not every day was a good day, not every outcome the hoped for one. I’ve got three very fine daughters, though, and that is something to celebrate. My heart is full.
