I’m waiting for my cleaning ladies’ arrival so thought I’d take a minute in here. Two years ago (while I was suffering from back problems) I hired Molly Maid to clean. They did a pretty good job, but wow, are they expensive. Plus, and this was huge, they were unreliable. So as soon as my back was somewhat normal, I let them go. I did my own housework for the next year-and-a-half, but that meant neglecting the yard work. Finally I got a recommendation from a neighbor. I’ve had this pair of young women ever since, about three months now. Their price is reasonable and they clean the whole house…including putting those king-size sheets on the bed. That one in particular was a killer chore.
So is the garden looking better? You bet it is! Planting, weeding, pruning. Love working out there. Someone else mows the lawn and fertilizes it, but the rest is mine. This is not a garden like the one up north, TG, as I doubt I could manage that anymore; but it’s enough to keep me out there humming while I work.
This is the start of Memorial Day weekend. Our park is having a picnic on Monday, which Don and I will attend. I’ve agreed to help out on the committee, because let’s face it, volunteers are thin on the ground in summer. During the winter months I volunteer for very little, but in the summer it’s all hands on deck.
This is more than a holiday weekend, of course, or at least I hope it is. Veterans are still too often forgotten. Veterans…those people who were willing to stand in front of a bullet so we didn’t have to. And now so many of them are homeless, penniless, in poor health. It isn’t right. If you run into one of your elected representatives, mention it, ok?
