On Tuesday, two women were cleaning my house. At the same time, three men were mowing and trimming the lawn; edging the beds; removing the clippings. Me? I was sitting on my chaise lounge reading a book. And thinking, “Wow, this is pure decadence.” It was hard not to feel outright lazy. Not so many years ago I did all those things myself, and often I have the energy to do most of them….but when I do, my back objects and I’m on the ‘down and out’ list for several days. I’ve finally concluded it’s just not worth it. Still, it’s one of the things I dislike about aging.
On the other hand, how fortunate that I can afford these luxuries! I know how lucky I am.
Our rainy, cloudy, gloomy days seem to have passed and we now have beautiful fall weather; trees are starting to color, and it’s just perfect out there. It’s my favorite time of year: so invigorating to have those cooler temps after our very warm summer.
This afternoon I’ll be watching a streaming presentation of the pep rally at one of the grands high school. I’m excited as I haven’t seen Aurelia in person in almost two years. Last year she participated in the great virtual learning experience, but this year she is in actual high school. I’m so excited for her….friends; activities; live classroom instruction and discussion. Tonight is the homecoming game, and just like back when I was in school, that means a pep rally during the school day.
Life is good here! Hope the same for you, wherever you are..
