Resolutions?

Have you made the same two New Year’s resolutions (lose weight; exercise more) for the last, I don’t know, kazillion years?

How about trying something different? Something that might actually improve your quality of life.

I want you to think about the muscles of your body. Sure, we all know they’re the reason we can move. But think: our muscles support and hold in place every bone, joint, and organ in our body. If they are kept supple and strong, everything else in there will feel and work better.

So how, you ask, do I do that? Easy: STRETCH. Preferably before you’re even out of bed you will stretch your arms and legs. Stretch and hold. Continue this throughout the day.

Stretching helps with the supple. Isometric exercises take care of the “strong.”

That just means holding a position; squeezing two muscles against each other; or clenching.

Sit in a chair and stretch your arms up over your head. Flex your wrists down towards your head; hold. That is isometric. Do this many times a day. Clench your hands together in front of your chest; clench and relax; repeat every time you think about it. This is isometric.

Anyway, these principles and actions are the reason my back is no longer bothering me; my leg is not collapsing out from under me; and I am pain free (without meds). It works; it’s free; it’s easy.

Happy New Year.
