Road trip

Don and I have been feeling so well lately, largely because of our daily sessions on the treadmill, that we decided we were able to take a road trip to Florida. Our friends there are aging, and many are in ill health, so we truly wanted to see them one last time. It was very much a farewell trip.

The good part of the trip was spending time with all eight people we wanted to see. Lunches, dinners, Wii bowling, and just hanging around. We loved every minute of that.

The BAD part was the road trip. Traffic was unbearable- very heavy with everyone speeding, and of course, those few idiots who weave in and out of traffic and scare us all half to death. As if that wasn’t enough, we encountered numerous accidents along the way. (Fortunately, we were not actually involved in any) Every accident we saw involved a semi. There are so many on the road, I suppose that was inevitable. On two occasions, one going, and one coming home, we waited between 45 minutes and one full hour for lanes to reopen. Inching along is no way to make good time, or even to relax.

So, what have we learned? WE ARE TOO OLD FOR ROAD TRIPS.

Sigh. Don has previously refused to fly, but he has now said if we travel again, we will take a plane.

Mostly, we just want to stay home, and I personally don’t want to see anyone for a couple of days while I recover my equilibrium!
