The vaccine rollout stumbles along

I had actually thought we were doing well with the vaccine rollout here in Virginia; then I talked with a friend who has been unable to get an appointment within a reasonable driving distance. She is 73 and has several underlying conditions, so this is totally not understandable.

She was offered an appointment in a city three hours away. Ridiculous.

To add insult to injury, the state is going to be ‘open to all’ for vaccination in a few weeks. That, at the very least, implies that the more at risk group has been taken care of.

In the meantime, some of my children have now been vaccinated, and two of the grands have appointments. These are in different states. I’m not sure if that speaks to the efficiency of those states or if my family members have just been lucky.

On a cheerier note, spring has arrived! My daffodils are in full bloom; the tulips have big fat buds; and the flowering trees are starting to burst with color. After our long (and very discontented) winter, this is such welcome news.

Now if those crazy spring-breakers don’t start another surge, we might see an end to this. Fingers crossed!
